Meet our Chairman



Brian M. Levitt became the Chairman of the Board on January 1, 2011.

Brian is the Vice-Chair of Osler, Hoskin, & Harcourt LLP.  Brian first joined Osler’s Toronto office in 1976 and became a partner in 1979. In 1991, Brian became President and was subsequently named CEO of Imasco Limited, a Canadian consumer products and services company.  Imasco was sold in 2000 and Brian returned to Osler in 2001.

A director on TD’s board since December 2008, Brian has served as a director of numerous public companies over the past 20 years. Brian is currently a director of Domtar Corporation. He served as Domtar’s Board Chair until its merger with Weyerhauser’s white paper business in 2007.

Brian holds a law degree from the University of Toronto, where he also completed his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Civil Engineering.

An active participant in community organizations and public life, Brian currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and Vice-Chair of the Board of the C.D. Howe Institute. Mr. Levitt has been appointed as chancellor of Bishop’s University for a five-year term beginning June 1, 2013.

In 2014, Brian was named a recipient of the Institute of Corporate Directors Fellowship Awards. Recognized for outstanding performance and leadership in the boardroom, these awards are presented annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to corporate, not-for-profit and Crown corporation boards across the country.

In 2015, Brian was appointed to the Order of Canada for his work and business and support for the arts. As an Officer of the Order of Canada, he is honoured for his "outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation."
