A simple ‘thank you’ can go a long way. That’s why TD rolls out the green carpet each year for one of the most important and enjoyable weeks across the organization – our annual Employee Appreciation Week.
More than 85,000 employees take part in this global celebration, with each business area applauding their employees in ways that are meaningful to them. This special week shines the spotlight on our teams by providing them with the chance to participate in fun and interesting activities, socialize with colleagues, enjoy treats and meals – and almost anything that makes our people feel special.
“In Halifax, we had a great week full of games, bowling and a BBQ,” said Nadine Hardiman, Administrator, TD Insurance. “Thank you to all of the leaders for making us feel special.”
Employee Appreciation Week is the perfect opportunity for leaders and managers to pause and thank all those whose hard work and dedication make TD The Better Bank.

As part of our unique culture, it’s important that we show appreciation for our team’s inspiring dedication, all year long.”
With a team of 85,000 employees across the globe and several recent acquisitions, TD faced a challenge: how to get its growing organization more connected, more collaborative and more engaged.
The answer was Connections, an internal social media platform. Fully launched in early 2012, this new enterprise-wide online social network has already generated thousands of communities, blogs and wikis. TD employees use this new business tool to communicate with team members, share expertise and information, and support each other with advice and ideas. Connections is delivering real business value by supporting collaboration and reducing phone calls, meetings and unwanted emails, all of which save time and help the bottom line.
“The launch of Connections is a great example of how TD is a progressive organization, committed to our employees and to creating a great place to work,” said Teri Currie, Group Head, Direct Channels, Corporate and People Strategies. “The way people communicate and connect is constantly changing. As we strive to be The Better Bank, we’re evolving to provide employees with the right tools to do their jobs and be their best.”
Connections supports TD’s commitment to be a diverse and socially responsible organization. Employees are encouraged to write and self-publish blogs on topics ranging from ethnic diversity in the workplace, to women in leadership and TD’s commitment to making our workplaces and communities a greener place to be.
TD also actively engages with current and future customers on major social media and networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and its newest social media community, TD Helps.
At TD, we’re proud to support our employees who go the extra mile, volunteering in the communities where we live and work. Brandon Coney, Coordinator, Human Resources for TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, is a fine example. In addition to his full time job in the Centralized Processing department, he spends two evenings each week at the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County, New Jersey. And he loves it.
“I volunteer because I feel like giving back to the community is the ultimate investment,” said Brandon. “The children I’m helping are going to be adults. I feel like I’m investing in my future by giving them the tools so one day they can reach back and contribute themselves.”
Brandon’s time at the Club is spent leading a healthy cooking program for youth, teaching teenagers about nutrition and meal preparation. As a mentor, Brandon builds strong relationships with the young participants and helps them develop important life skills.
Like many other employees, Brandon annually applies for TD’s volunteer donation program . When a full-time employee dedicates at least 40 hours of service to a single organization within a 12 month period, they may be eligible to receive a $500 grant towards that group. It’s a program we’re proud to offer across North America.
“It’s amazing,” said Brandon. “The Club can always use extra funds and every dollar from TD helps steer these kids in the right direction, helps them make positive decisions and allows them to move forward.
