Our Commitment › Greening where we live

Green is in our

We strive to make the environment an integral part of "how we do things at TD" by focusing on the following key areas:

  • Understanding the transition toward a low carbon economy;
  • Eco-efficiency in our business operations;
  • Supporting and enabling responsible financing and investing;
  • Providing customers with green banking choices.

TD Forests

We’re helping to protect North American forests large and small. We collaborate with over 1,000 environmental and community groups each year, protecting critical forest habitats, enhancing neighbourhood parks and supporting educational programs.

Protecting critical forest habitat

We have teamed up with the Nature Conservancy of Canada and The Nature Conservancy in the U.S. to help protect critical forest habitats from coast to coast.

Greening our communities

TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF)

With the support of more than 150,000 donors, TD FEF has provided approximately $70 million to over 23,000 environmental projects and programs across Canada.

TD FEF’s unique structure ensures that 100% of every dollar donated in a community is directly invested in environmental programs in that community.

Our Stories

TD Tree Days

Through TD Tree Days, TD employees, their friends and families, and our customers work together to help grow and care for our urban forests.

These local tree plantings are a tangible, meaningful – and fun – way for volunteers to demonstrate their commitment to forest stewardship and their communities.

Since 2010, thousands of volunteers – from Brownies to bankers – have planted over 185,000 trees in hundreds of communities across North America, in the U.K. and in Luxembourg.

TD Green Streets: Supporting innovation in urban forestry

With the support of TD Green Streets grants, municipalities are developing innovative projects to help grow and care for their urban forests and increase community green spaces.

Some of the leading-edge projects that we have supported include bio-swales, rain gardens, citizen pruner programs, urban orchards and “forest classrooms.”

This program is helping the New York Restoration Project reach its goal of planting and caring for one million trees across the five boroughs of New York City. The last tree will be planted in 2015.
